Larraintzar - Bridge of La Magdalena
Following the course of the river, this is the first stretch of the Park. It consists of an entire meander and ends at the Bridge of La Magdalena.

The footbridges were built in order to facilitate pedestrian traffic between the ever-growing district of La Magdalena and Villava/Burlada. In the 50's, they consisted of lines of separate, concrete blocks, on which wooden boards were placed in order to cross the river. When the river rose, however, it used to wash these boards away with it and so people crossed the river by jumping from block to block, as immortalised in Montxo Armendáriz’s film Secretos del corazón (Secrets of the Heart). This system was replaced by the current, safer, though probably less charming footbridges in 2000.
